"It Gets Harder To Be A Martyr" was the first collaboration between UK Indie band Envy & Other Sins and Free Spirit.

The video was only originally intended as a promotional teaser for their online community but was so well recieved, the band decided to use it to promote the release of "Martyr".

 

The concept for this comedic promo video originates from the bands "turn of the century" inspirations. The video adopted the style of the Black & White silent movies of the 1920's and sees the daring rescue of a fair Damsel by her Prince Charming. The video was shot on the Sony Z1 High Definition Camera and edited on Final Cut Pro.

Despite "It Gets Harder To Be A Martyr" not being scheduled for release as a single, Polydor and A&M - the band's record labels, were so impressed by the video that it has been uploaded to the Polydor YouTube Channel along side other artists suh as Snow Patrol and The Artic Monkeys.

 

In 2009, "It Get's Harder To Be A Martyr" was the second music video by Free Spirit to be nominated for a YIFTA Independent Film & TV Award. It lost out to the Envy & Other Sins video for "Man Bites God"... another video produced by Free Spirit nominated for the same award.
